Turkey appeals U.S. military observation posts removal from N. Syria

(MENAFN) The U.S. received an appeal from Turkey to remove its military observation bases which are located in northern Syria.

Turkey made the appeal in order to put a stop to battles erupting between Turkish forces and Syrian Kurdish fighters.

The call has come during talks held in Ankara between Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar and U.S. Special Envoy to Syria James Jeffrey.

The American posts in northern Syria, the U.S. envoy claimed, are seeking to achieve "less harassment fire" as well as guaranteeing the region's security.
