13 abducted DABS workers freed in Laghman


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) MEHTARLAM (Pajhwok): Taliban have released more than a dozen Da Afghanistan Breshna Shirkat (DABS) workers after abducting them two weeks ago in Badpakh district of eastern Laghman province, an official said Sunday.

Asadullah Dawlatzai, the Laghman governor€™s spokesman, confirmed to Pajhwok Afghan News the workers were freed by Taliban militants yesterday evening, thanks to tribal elders mediation.

Attaullah Khogyani, the governor spokesman for neighboring Nangarhar province, also confirmed the power utility employees had been released and said an effort was underway to reconnect the broken electricity lines.

The DABS workers had visited the Badpakh district to reconnect broken power cables when they were kidnapped by the insurgents.
