Jordan, EU sign 50 million euro grant agreement to support Rule of Law Program

Amman, October 21(Petra)-- Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Mary Kawar on Sunday signed with the Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations ,Johannes Hahn, a 50 million euro grant agreement for "Support to Rule of Law Program in Jordan".

The signing ceremony was attended by Ambassador of the European Union to Jordan Andrea Fontana and a number of senior officials.

Kawar said the agreement represents a new milestone in cooperation relations between the two sides. She also thanked the EU for its genuine partnership and strong commitment to support the kingdom, noting efforts of the EU ambassador to "advance the EU-Jordan strategic partnership in support of Jordan's long-term economic development, resilience and stability, particularly in light of the regional circumstances and continued spillover on Jordan for more for seven years".

The grant aims to support the Rule of Law Program to enhance the independence and accountability of the judicial power, support the improvement of caseflow management, effectiveness and information efficiency in the criminal justice chain and improve the management and public service delivery in the Justice Sector.
