KUWAIT CITY, Oct 2: The Court of Appeals chaired by Judge Ibrahim Al-Obaid sentenced a Kuwaiti woman to 20 months in jail for filming her maid as she fell from the seventh floor of a building in an apparent suicide attempt without going to her rescue, says Al-Seyassah.

The Operations Room of the Interior Ministry received report that an Ethiopian maid had tried to commit suicide by jumping from the seventh floor of a building in Sabah Al-Salem where her Kuwaiti woman lives, and the case kept social media abuzz when the clip was posted.

During investigation, the woman admitted she was keen on taking footage of the incident in order to exonerate herself, stressing there was no way she could not have rescued the maid. The Public Prosecution pressed charges against the accused for filming and publishing the video without the consent of the victim.
