Kuwait- Parliamentary election begins in Iraq's Kurdistan region


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) IRBIL, Sept 30 (KUNA) -- The parliamentary election began in Iraq's Kurdistan region as of 08:00 a.m. local-time, said the Independent High Electoral and referendum Commission (IHERC) Sunday.
Kurdistan's Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani, who voted early, hoped that the election process would run smoothly, urging all Kurdistan's citizens to choose suitable representatives for parliament from the 773 candidates.
Over three million eligible voters are casting their ballots in the election to choose 111 new lawmakers.
Last Friday, some 174,000 Peshmerga and Internal Security Forces members cast their vote at 99 polling stations in Kurdistan. The process began at 08:00 a.m. local-time and ended on 06:00 p.m. (end) sbr.gta
