TV leads, internet lags behind in Uzbekistan's advertising sector

Television is the main advertising platform in the media space of Uzbekistan, Uzbek media reported referring to research data of Kantar Research LLC.

"Advertisers spend 63 percent of their budgets on television. Outdoor advertising is second, as far as popularity goes, and accounts for 25 percent of advertising budgets. Internet is third, with a 7-percent share," company stated.

The situation, however, is somewhat different in the CIS countries. For example, the share of television budgets in Russia is 41 percent, in Ukraine - 45 percent.

According to the study, Uzbeks spend an average of 2.5 hours a day in front of TVs. In the 1H2018, the television advertising market has increased by 29 percent, year on year.

In general, the TV advertising market is expected to grow by 50 percent until the end of 2018, with total volume of the market reaching over 180 billion soums.
