2018 World Cup: Belgium coach says proud of team despite defeat

(MENAFN) Belgium coach Roberto Martinez affirmed that he was proud of his team even after they were narrowly beaten by France 1-0 in the World Cup semifinals.

The match has been decoded after the 51st minute header by Samuel Umtiti, giving France a ticket for the finals and placing Belgium for the third or fourth place based on Saturday's match.

The national team's coach stated "I think today is a game that was very tight and there were not many big moments that were going to decide the game."

The coach noted "I thought we were growing into the game when we conceded the goal from the corner. The difference between defeat and winning was down to one dead ball situation."

Martinez further added that "Belgian football has a wealth of young talent coming through."
