The IIT-JEE Advanced examination, conducted by IIT-Kanpur, was held today across India, and around 166,204 candidates have taken them.

The IIT-JEE Advanced examination was held for both papers - Paper 1 and Paper 2 - today.

The results for the Advanced examination are expected to be declared around June 10.

Here's a quick analysis of Papers 1 and 2 of the IIT-JEE Advanced examination.


Over 10 lakh students took the JEE Mains

This year, around 1,043,739 students appeared for the IIT-JEE Mains. A total of 180,331 boys, and 50,693 girls cleared the exam and qualified for IIT-JEE Advanced. The results were declared on April 30.

Paper format


Paper 1 of the JEE Advanced carried a total of 180 marks, broken up into three parts - Physics (60), Chemistry (60), Maths (60) - and had 54 questions.

Each part was broken up into two sections of 24 marks each and one section of 12 marks, comprising six, eight, and four questions, respectively. Only sections 1 and 3 had negative marking.


Paper 1 was of moderate difficulty, reported candidates
Analysis


The immediate reactions to the paper was that it was moderate, but definitely not easy.

Maths was largely reported to be easy, while Physics was reported to be relatively difficult. Candidates also said that Chemistry was of moderate difficulty.

The answer keys for the JEE Advanced papers are expected to be out some time on May 29.


Paper 2 was significantly tougher and lengthier than Paper 1

Paper 2 had a similar format like Paper 1, but reportedly was significantly more tough and lengthy.

The Maths section in Paper 2 was the most difficult, while Physics and Chemistry were relatively easier.

Many students, however, complained that Paper 2 was quite lengthy, and several said that they hadn't been able to finish on time.
