Nichols Liu LLP announced today Frederick W. Claybrook Jr, a former partner and founding member of Crowell & Moring LLP, joined the firm as Of Counsel.
Claybrook has litigated some of the industry's largest and most important bid protest and claims cases before the Court of Federal Claims, the Government Accountability Office, the boards of contract appeals, federal district and state courts, domestic and international arbitrators, and courts of appeals.

As lead counsel on the landmark SUFI Network Services Inc., Claybrook won the largest ever judgment against a non-appropriated funds instrumentality: over $200 million. He accepted the case on a success-fee basis and won for SUFI the largest-ever award of legal fees in a government contracts case.

Claybrook was graduatedcum laudefrom Wheaton College (Illinois) in 1973 and with honor from Duke University School of Law in 1976. He was a member of the editorial board of the Duke Law Journal, in which he published two articles. Following his graduation from law school, he clerked for the Honorable Gerald Bard Tjoflat of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. A frequent contributor to scholarship in the field, Claybrook is the author of numerous articles across multiple law journals, and he is the recipient of the 2016 Board of Contract Appeals Bar Association Writing Award.
