Kuwaiti Finance Min. discusses cooperation with WBG


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON, April 19 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Minister of Finance Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf and the participating Kuwaiti delegation on Wednesday attended the annual spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group (WBG), currently being held here between April 16-22.
The meetings included one with World Bank Group President Jim Yong Kim, as both sides discussed means of cooperation to best serve Kuwait's interests in various fields, especially in educational and economic domains, as well as offering training courses for Kuwaitis in WBG.
The Kuwaiti delegation also included Minister of Trade and Industry Khaled Al-Rodhan and Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Hamed Al-Azmi.
Al-Hajraf, in remarks to KUNA and Kuwait TV, said meeting with Kim tackled means of boosting and developing cooperation between the World Bank and Kuwait, as Kim offered an initiative of developing and investing in human resources through linking investment with education and health sectors as to reflect on the state's economy growth.
They also discussed importance of the Kuwaiti youth participation in the WBG, and means Kuwait would benefit from the Group in the future.
"We believe that Kuwaiti youth can contribute a lot to the World Bank, out of our belief in their capabilities," Al-Hajraf noted.
Al-Hajraf hailed WBG remarkable contribution in developing the economic infrastructure in Kuwait through periodical studies and reports it issues.
Kim previously visited Kuwait last February and met Al-Hajraf on the sidelines of the International Conference for Reconstruction of Iraq. (end) si.lb
