By Rufiz Hafizoglu – Trend:

Counselor of the Netherlands Embassy in Ankara has been summoned to the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Turkish media reported Feb. 23.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed protest to the counselor in connection with the decision in the Dutch Parliament to recognize the 1915 events as 'the Armenian genocide.'

Earlier, the Turkish Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the decision of the Dutch Parliament recognizing the so-called Armenian genocide.

Armenia and the Armenian lobby claim that Turkey's predecessor, the Ottoman Empire, allegedly carried out "genocide" against the Armenians living in Anatolia in 1915. While strengthening the efforts to promote the "genocide" in the world, Armenians have achieved its recognition by the parliaments of some countries.
