Iraq set to reopen border with Jordan after three year shutdown

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BAGHDAD, Aug 29 (KUNA) -- Iraq will reopen its Traibil border crossing with Jordan on Wednesday three years after it was closed due to the so-called Islamic State's control of Anbar Province which borders Jordan, Prime Minister Haidar Al-Abadi said.

Al-Abadi made the remarks a day ahead of an official joint announcement on the move as both countries prepare to gradually allow the transport of passengers and goods.

The opening of the border will reflect positively on the economies of the neighbouring Arab countries through trade and jobs, he said. (end) ahh.sd
