China becomes Germany's major trading partner

(MENAFN) China has become Germany's most important trading partner in 2016 for the first time, overtaking the U.S., which fell back to third place behind France.

Furthermore, German imports from and exports to China increased to USD180bn last year, while the development will be welcomed by the German government.

Meanwhile, German Vice Chancellor has suggested that the EU should refocus its economic policy toward Asia, should the Trump administration pursue protectionism.

On the other hand, France remained the second-most important business partner with a joined trade volume of 167bn euros.
