"Everything imaginable in roadway safety products, services and devices, including bright signs, orange drums and barrels, cones, guardrail, temporary traffic control devices, pavement marking removal vehicles, reflective worker apparel, you name it. It will all be in Phoenix this week at this event," said ATSSA's Director of Communications James Baron. "This is North America's largest trade show for roadway safety products and services."

Over 3,000 roadway safety professionals from the U.S. and abroad will attend this event. ATSSA members manufacture and install the various roadway safety devices that motorists drive by every day. These products include bright, reflective signs and roadway striping, crash cushions, reflective garments and work zone safety equipment.

Legendary national news correspondent Forrest Sawyer will open the event as host of the association's opening general session tomorrow, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the convention center. Following that event, a ribbon cutting will occur at noon to mark the official start of the convention.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's most recent roadway fatality statistics, 35,092 people died in crashes on America's roadways in 2015. In addition, 700 fatalities occurred in roadway work zones. Of those work zone fatalities, roughly 75 percent were motorists, and not the workers themselves. Locally, these latest federal statistics also reveal 883 motorists were killed on Arizona's roadways in 2015, and 10 fatalities occurred in Arizona work zones.

ATSSA member products play a significant role in helping to reduce roadway crashes and fatalities through technology, research and new innovations. ATSSA members are committed to reducing the number of injuries and fatalities on roadways and work zones through the implementation of their lifesaving products.

ATSSA's core purpose is to advance roadway safety. ATSSA represents the roadway safety industry with effective legislative advocacy and a far-reaching member partnership. The association also leads the nation in work zone safety training and education for roadway workers across the country.

Media can gain access to the event during exhibit hours to view products and services, and may interview roadway safety experts, by calling James Baron at 540-847-2800. A full schedule of events is available at www.expo.atssa.com.
