33 plots allotted for tourism projects across Oman


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Ministry of Housing, in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism, has allotted 33 plots spread over millions of square metres across Oman this year for setting up of tourism-related projects with an aim to boost growth and diversify the national economy.

Among the host of tourism projects allocated land in several governorates, the Ministry of Housing has also signed a land allotment agreement for a flight club in Al Jawabi area in Jalaan Bani Bu Ali spread over 992,000sq m.

Muscat governorate has got the largest number of tourism projects for which the Ministry of Housing has given land. Among the projects to come up in Muscat include a restaurant and a coffee shop on 150sq m in Shatti al Qurm, a restaurant complex in Bausher on 1,421sq m land, a hotel and a commercial complex in Ma'abela over 179,590sq m, a hotel in Amerat over 2,614sq m, a hotel and a resort over 15,000sq m in Al Khoudh and two resorts spread over 150,000sq m and 47,499sq m land in Seeb.

Five tourism sites have been allocated in Dhofar, which include hotel apartments in the Industrial Area in Salalah spread over 5,002sq m, tourism camp in Thumrait over 20,000sq m, a resort in Mirbat over 10,000sq m, a resort in Taqah over 30,000sq m, in addition to a traditional restaurant project in Salalah over 5,835sq m.

In Rustaq, a cultural hostel in Al Hoqain over 9,246sq m area and a hotel in Al Alaya over 10,000sq m have also been allotted land.

In Nizwa, two plots were allotted for two hotels to come up in Redat al Busaid area over an area of 10,000sq m and another one in Al Turath area over 3,1461sq m land. A plot has been allocated in Jebel Shams to set up a resort over 78,562sq m.

In North Sharqiyah, four projects got land approval and include a tourism complex in Al Fulaij in Ibra over 10,000sq m, a resort in Al Wasil in Bidiyah over 30,000sq m, a hotel in Al Suwaireej area in Mudhaibi over 4,123sq m and a resort in Al Qabil over 10,000sq m.

The ministry approved seven projects in South Sharqiyah, the most important of which is the project to develop Ras al Hadd in Sur over 1,971,823sq m area to set up hotels, villas, shopping areas, wild life centre, and a cultural centre.

It also approved three locations to set up tourism projects in the Governorate of Buraimi.
