Qatar's QAFCO, Belgium's UL sign agreement


(MENAFN) Qatar Fertilizer Company (QAFCO) announced it has signed an agreement for a joint cooperation with the Belgian University of Liege on a research program to use urea as poultry feed additive to prevent use of antibiotics in them, QNA reported.

The agreement, which aims to develop cooperation between QAFCO, and University of Liege in research related to the use of urea as an essential component of healthy poultry feed to prevent the use of antibiotics in agriculture and livestock, also involves an research which will look at the use of urea to improve nutrient capacities of cassava root, one of the largest food carbohydrates source in Africa and Asia.

QAFCO said that they are very excited for the signing of this agreement, which comes from the desire of the company to build bridges of cooperation with universities and scientific research institutions, which will help it with its global role as a supporter of efforts at alleviation of global hunger and to provide an alternative to the harmful yet prevalent global food production processes.
