(MENAFN) Jordan's flag carrier Royal Jordanian (RJ) added a new Airbus A321 plane to its fleet, as it seeks to serve the medium-haul routes on its network, Trade Arabia reported.
The new aircraft, which was given the name of Madaba city, is the third of its model to be introduced this year.
The airline is currently working on renovating its medium-range fleet by replacing six of its A320s and A321s with seven new ones of the same type.
The airline has already replaced four A320 and two A321 aircraft, and the last plane will be introduced in November.
CEO Abdelrahman El-Khatib said the modernization move targets upgrading the level of onboard services and maintaining a modern fleet, in addition to saving time and money by having a young fleet.
He also said that the airline saw a strong increase in the number of passengers since the beginning of this year, another reason for the fleet renovation is to meet growing demand on its flights.
RJ has a 32-aircraft fleet, reaching 60 direct destinations and more than 850 airports through its oneworld partners.
