Iran to ban imported goods to protect local products

(MENAFN) IRIB TV reported Iran to have unveiled a list of imported items that are to be affected with a ban, in an attempt to defend local products.

Speaking to IRIB, managing director of Commerce Services of Trade Development Organization Farhad Noori explained each of the banned goods to have their similar local alternatives.

Noori stated "the government possesses enough currency at its disposal. However, regarding the monetary policies, we should not allocate the currency to the imports of those articles which have their similar domestic alternatives."

He added that the organization has exempted the articles from the list which are not produced locally to meet domestic demands.
