Former NYC mayor to donate USD4.5m for Paris Climate Accord funds

(MENAFN) Former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg was declared to be sending USD4.5 million to aid funding the US financial pledges to the Paris Climate Agreement.

Speaking to CBS, the former mayor noted "America made a commitment and as an American, if the government's not going to do it we all have responsibility."

Bloomberg continued "I'm able to do it. So, yes, I'm going to send them a check for the monies that America had promised to the organization as though they got it from the federal government."

The donation comes one year after President Trump declared a decision for the US to leave the Paris Climate Accord and launch dialogues to either rejoin or negotiate a new deal.
