Madagascar storm leaves 20 deaths


(MENAFN) An official toll has declared that over 20 have died,as another 19,000 were affected by a powerful tropical storm that hit the island of Madagascar.

An older estimate revealed the death of 17 people as 15,000 had been disturbed on late Sunday.

Eliakim storm struck through the northeastern Masoala peninsula then went south down the coast.

The storm had vanished away from the Indian Ocean island and "presents no more danger"by Monday.
