A 52-year-old woman was arrested by police on Sunday for allegedly killing her six-year-old grandson in a guest house in Wan Chai.
The woman surnamed Kan and the boy went to Hong Kong Island for a day out and checked in to the Beverly Hotel on Lockhart Road in Wan Chai shortly after 5pm on Saturday, Apple Daily reported.

According to surveillance camera footage, the woman and the boy were seen entering the building. The woman had a backpack and held the boy, who appeared to be sleeping.
At 1am on Sunday, the woman sought help from hotel staff, claiming that she had found her grandson unconscious.
Paramedics arrived and sent the boy to Ruttonjee Hospital in Wan Chai. But the boy was pronounced dead at 2.28am at the hospital.
However, medical staff found suspicious signs on the boy's neck that suggested he might have been strangled. That led to police arresting the grandmother.
Earlier media reports quoted police sources as saying the boy had been suffered from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or ADHD.
But Chief inspector Wan Kai-ming of Wan Chai district said no records showed that the boy suffered from ADHD. He said they were unsure what caused the boy's death, but officers had found a 68-centimeter-long shoulder strap that had been cut from a bag, Radio Television Hong Kong reported.
Police were looking into the mental state of the grandmother and would investigate the family background, he said.
The boy lived with his single mother and grandmother (the suspect) in Ma On Shan in the New Territories. But the household had no record of domestic violence.
