Turkish assaults kills 10 fighters in Afrin

(MENAFN) Turkish assaults killed 10 Syrian fighters backing Kurdish forces in Kurdish enclave of Afrin on Saturday, the Syria Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) said in a statement.

The YPG said that the Turkish army warplanes had bombed Jinderes district of Afrin and had targeted positions held by the Syrian army.

Meanwhile the YPG statement said a group of Turkish forces and allied Syrian factions had broken into Rajo, where it said clashes were continuing between YPG forces and the attackers.

In January 2018, Turkey launched an offensive called "Olive Branch" on Syria's Afrin Kurds-majority, on the pretext of protecting its boarders from the People's Protection Units (YPG) which Ankara views as "terrorists." The Syrian government deployed fighters to the enclave based on an agreement between Rojava Administration and the Syrian regime.
