QU mass communication students showcase capstone projects


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Mass Communication Department at Qatar University College of Arts and Sciences (QU-CAS) recently organised a three-day event for students' graduation projects for fall 2017.

The event highlighted 27 female and eight male students, who showcased and presented their projects in front of academics, media professionals and the full staff of the Mass Communication Department, as well as faculty members from the College of Arts and Sciences. The opening session was attended by CAS associate dean for research and graduate affairs Prof Ibrahim al-Kaabi, assistant dean for student affairs Munira al-Subaie and head of Mass Communication Department Dr Noureldien el- Miladi.

In the 'Journalism track, the projects, under the supervision of associate professor of journalism Dr Nishan Rafi, included the magazine titled, 'Victory Despite the Siege developed by students Najlaa al- Mohanadi and Hessa al-Hatmi, and the magazine titled, 'Al -Olia developed by students Sheikha al-Khiareen, Noura al- Emadi and Eman Nouh,

In the 'Broadcast/Documentary track, the projects included TV shows and documentaries, such as the film 'Qatar Bldna, directed by student Fatima Eissa Hamadi under the supervision of lecturer of broadcast and documentary Dr Njoud al-Ebrahim and the film 'Gahwechi directed by student Hind al-Nema, under the supervision of associate professor of video, audio, and TV productions Dr Shaker Aiadi.

In the 'Strategic Communication track, the projects included public relations campaigns such as the 'Be Sure campaign, developed by students Khalid al-Shamari, Soud al-Anzi and Khalid al-Yafai, under the supervision of professor of strategic communication Prof Mohamed Kirat and 'Qatar Ambassadors developed by students Fatima al-Jaber, Fatma al-Manaai, Dalal al- Abdullah, Mariam al-Mohanadi, and Mariam al-Sebie.

Prof al-Kaabi said, 'These projects give the students an opportunity to experience the practical side of their studies and by providing them with the feedback of their graduation projects. This exercise will enable the students to deal with the challenges that they will face in their work in the future.
