Pakistan- Revived MMA pledges to resolve issue of FATA reforms within one month


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR, 14 December: The religious parties have announced restoration of their alliance Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) which will resolve the issue of FATA reforms within a month.

This announcement was made at a meeting of the leaders of religious parties in Karachi on Wednesday which was attended by the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) ameer Sirajul Haq, Shah Awais Noorani, Allama Sajid Mir and Sajid Naqvi

Shah Awais Noorani while addressing a press conference after the meeting formally announced restoration of the alliance which will contest the next general elections with the symbol of book. He said the issue of FATA is very important for the alliance and talks are underway within the alliance to create consensus on the issue. He said the parties included in the MMA will thoroughly discuss the issue and will bring a solution to the FATA reforms issue within a month. He said the MMA will start campaign for the next general elections after one month.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the FATA Reforms Bill has not been removed from the National Assembly's agenda on his request. He said the bill was dropped due to some technical fault.

The Maulana said FATA people have different demands regarding reforms. He said a strategy should be formed for amicable resolution of this issue.

All the former parties of the MMA, except JUI of Maulana Samiul Haq, are part of the revived alliance.
