Riyadh, Rabi'I 23, 1439, December 11, 2017, SPA -- Minister of Education Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Issa of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated today in the Yadan International Award ceremony as a keynote speaker, at the event held for the first time in Hong Kong, in the presence of Hong Kong's administrative ruler and nearly 400 international educational figures.
"I am honored to be here among this group of eminent speakers who have dedicated their careers to improving education in the regions across the world. We all agree that the most valuable resources of countries are the capabilities of their people. "
"Saudi Arabia is rich in abundant natural resources that have enabled the country to rapidly develop as a modern state. However, relying on this single resource makes the economy less focused. The Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has recognized this issue and launched an ambitious agenda as outlined in Vision 2030, aims to create a diversified economy that offers new opportunities for the next generation and creates new possibilities for the future, which means building a knowledge-based economy. "
Al-Issa stressed that education is one of the most important pillars of the Kingdom's vision of 2030 to prepare the next generation for the future, and equip them not only with a broad base of knowledge, but with skills and competencies.
Al-Issa explained that the Ministry of Education has taken a series of measures to ensure the quality of the curriculum, and work to move from traditional education to a competency-based approach, pointing out that this shift means a great effort to reorient and support teachers who will change their role in the classroom significantly. At this early stage, education deals with international partners such as the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NIKE) in the United States to gain additional experience in early childhood development in order to properly design curricula and standards and to sign a partnership agreement between the Ministry of Education in the Kingdom.
