Kuwait- France slams Syrian air strikes on Idlib

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) PARIS, April 28 (KUNA) -- France on Friday condemned aerial bombing operations against medical facilities and improvised hospitals in Idlib province, which is largely under the control of opponents to Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad.

"These deliberate attacks are unacceptable and constitute new violations of international humanitarian law, making for war crimes," the French Foreign Ministry said.

Numerous casualties have been reported in the attacks over the past several days.

"It is imperative that the regime stop these attacks against the civilian populations and infrastructure and against health workers and treatment structures," the statement added.

France again urged an immediate cease-fire in Syria and the resumption of negotiations for a political solution based on UN resolutions and the Geneva communique signed at the outset of peace talks but which has been effectively renounced since by Damascus. (End) jk.rk
