Audit of PUC centres in Delhi discloses flaws

Till Mid-March, the transport department of Delhi carried out audits at 709 out of the 968 pollution under control (PUC) centres.

Of these, 169 were given deficiency memos, licenses of 6 centres were adjourned and 97 centres were issued show-cause notices.

The most common problem discovered in the audit was lack of maintenance.

Gurugram Industries have to pay for removal of Kherki Daula toll

Delhi State Government wants Manesar industries to contribute monetarily to the buy-off package of the Kherki Daula toll.

The government also asserted that if industries fail to pay their share, the toll would not be removed.

According to the government, the industries had earlier agreed to split the financial liabilities of Rs.600 crore, but later refused to pay.

Accident Car flips on Jahangirpuri flyover, 2 youths dead, 2 injured

In the early hours of Monday, a Honda city car lost control, crashed into a divider and flipped on the Mukundpur flyover in northwest Delhi's Jahangirpur, killing 2 youths and injuring the other 2.

According to the police, victims were returning home from a party.

The four youths were business partners and were returning home to Mukarba Chowk.

AIIMS AIIMS looks to create awareness about internet addiction

India's only behavioural addiction clinic at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is looking to tie-up with educational institutions and offer prevention, early detection and protection against internet addiction.

Their motive is to educate the youth about the dark side of social media.

AIIMS is open to working with schools, universities to disseminate awareness amongst students as well as teachers and parents.

Judgement SC reserves judgment on December 2012 gangrapist's pleas

On Monday, the Supreme Court reserved for judgment appeals filed against death penalty by the four people accused in the grotesque gangrape and murder case of 16th December, 2012.

The arguments concluded with senior advocate Siddharth Luthra (for the Delhi Police), strongly urging for death penalty for the convicts.

Amicus and senior advocate Raju Ramchandran, however, asked the court to consider life-imprisonment instead.

Gurugram Forest department forms team to eliminate encroachments

The forest department of Haryana created a team of 3 members to get rid of large-scale, illegal encroachments from forest areas.

According to the department, an inspection conducted on Friday revealed that over 800 acres of forests have been encroached upon between Gurugram and Nuh districts in South Haryana.

The exercise would be jointly executed by the Public Works Department (PWD) and forest officials.
