GCC youth science forum opens in Doha

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) DOHA, Oct 22 (KUNA) -- The 22nd GCC youth science forum opened on Saturday with a delegation from the Scientific Center of Kuwait taking part.

The seven-day event provides a networking opportunity for talented youth from the six members of the GCC and aims to foster their scientific skills, said Abdulrahman Al-Hajeri, director of the youth affairs dept. of the Qatari Ministry of Culture and Sports.

The forum, part of the agenda of the youth committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council, gathers participants aged between 11 and 25, he said.

Al-Hajeri noted that the youth affairs dept. of the Qatari Ministry of Culture and Sports mandated Qatar Scientific Club (QSC) to organize the forum in the framework of the Ministry's efforts to encourage its departments to host regional and international youth events.

On his part, Rashed Ali Ibrahim, QSC deputy chairman and head of the organizing committee, said the organizing committee chose the City Center Complex as venue of the event in order to enable the participants to visit the National Innovation Exhibition.

"We seek to provide platform for youths from the GCC members to establish direct contacts, network, and to share experience and views with each other," he said.

The agenda of the forum, being held under auspices of Qatari Minister of Culture and Sports Saleh Al-Ali, includes a variety of activities such as symposia, workshops, contests and visits to the ongoing National Innovation Exhibition.

Kuwait's delegation, led by Dr. Musa'ed Saud Al-Kraibani, includes representatives of the SCK and the Public Authority for Sports.

The delegation will present to the gathering six scientific projects. (end) nnd.gb
