Trump, Melania Evacuate White House Correspondents’ Dinner
(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump were swiftly removed on Saturday evening from the yearly White House Correspondents' dinner held in Washington, DC, following a security-related episode during the gathering.
Trump, along with senior administration figures seated beside him at the main table, was escorted out by Secret Service personnel as part of intensified safety precautions. Meanwhile, the remaining attendees stayed inside the Washington Hilton ballroom.
Subsequent reports indicated that the president and Vice President JD Vance were "safe and secure."
Eyewitnesses described hearing sudden loud sounds amid the event.
“We were sitting here, and we just heard a loud ‘pop, pop, pop.’ Everybody just went under the table, and we didn’t know what was happening,” a broadcaster quoted its White House correspondent Kellie Meyer as saying.
