ASQA Returns 26 Tonnes Of Substandard Materials

(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Standards and Quality Authority (ASQA) has returned more than 26 tonnes of substandard construction materials from Islam Qala port to the exporting country in a bid to protect domestic markets and uphold consumer rights.

In a statement, the authority said 26 tonnes and 770 kilogrammes of low-quality bitumen sheets, which did not meet national standards, were sent back after a comprehensive assessment and strict quality control at Islam Qala port.

It said the process of quality verification and control is being carried out in a regular, transparent and strict manner at all ports across the country, with no leniency shown towards the import of goods that could harm society.

It urged traders to strictly observe national standards and fulfil their religious and national responsibilities in ensuring a safe and quality market.

This comes a day after the authority announced that 25 tonnes of substandard steel girders, imported under the name“Nodani”, had also been returned from Sheikh Abu Nasr Farahi port.

Islam Qala and Sheikh Abu Nasr Farahi ports are located along the border with Iran.
