A mystery involving lakhs of missing chocolate bars has taken a serious turn, with KitKat confirming that the theft is genuine and not a PR ploy. In an official statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), the brand addressed growing speculation that the incident could be an April Fools' joke. The news came after speculations on social media questioned the incident's veracity. In response, the firm announced the release of a "Stolen KitKat Tracker," a program that allows users to determine whether their chocolate bar is among the missing batch.

“Thank you for your interest in the missing KitKats. But just to clarify, this is not a stunt or an April Fool's joke. Someone really stole 12 tonnes of KitKats, and we really want to know where they've gone,” the statement read.

“We've created a Stolen KitKat Tracker that lets you check if your KitKat is from the missing batch,” the statement further reads.

The purpose of the tracker is that customers will be able to“check” if their purchased chocolates are from the“missing batch”.

To see if your KitKat is one of the missing bars, simply open the website. When you access the link, you'll notice a choice for "Stolen KitKat Tracker". After clicking on the "Stolen KitKat Tracker" button, you'll be sent to a page where you can input your chocolate bar's ID number to determine whether it's stolen or not.
