Talks About Arabian NATO Already Underway Emirati Political Scientist

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Emirati academic and political scientist Abdulkhaleq Abdulla stated this in an interview with Ukrinform.

"As for the idea of an 'Arab NATO,' it is indeed possible that the time has come to move beyond cooperation within the GCC framework toward the creation of a formal military alliance to confront our most dangerous common adversary-Iran. When and how this might happen remains an open question and ultimately depends on decisions taken by our leaders. However, discussions on this issue are already underway," he said.

According to him, an external threat always strengthens cooperation, and the Gulf Cooperation Council was established in 1981 specifically to counter external threats, including the Iranian threat.

"In light of Iran's aggression, cooperation among the Gulf Arab states will undoubtedly intensify-especially in the areas of security, defense, and foreign policy," he emphasized.

As Ukrinform previously reported, on March 10 Volodymyr Zelensky said that this week Ukrainian fully equipped teams for protection against Shahed drones will arrive to assist in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia.
