Dubai residents have been given a first look at how air taxi journeys will be booked directly through the Uber app, with newly released visuals showing how the service will work once operations begin.

The demonstration shows that passengers will not need a separate application. Instead, Dubai's air taxis will appear as another travel option within the existing Uber interface, alongside regular ride and transit services.

Enter destination

As shown in the visuals, users begin by opening the Uber app and entering their destination in the familiar 'Where to?' search bar.

Select air taxi option

If the journey qualifies, an Uber Air option appears among available ride choices. The app then displays travel timings and route details, allowing users to compare the aerial journey with regular car rides.

Entire journey booked in one tap

Once selected, the platform automatically connects all parts of the trip into a single booking.

The above image demonstrates a sample journey from Palm Jumeirah to Dubai International Airport, broken into three stages:

. A premium car pickup takes passengers from their location to a nearby vertiport, the designated take-off point.

. This is followed by an 11-minute aerial flight operated by Joby Aviation, whose all-electric aircraft powers the air taxi service.

. After landing, another car ride completes the final transfer to DXB Terminal 3.

All legs of the journey from the road commute to flight are arranged within the same booking flow.

Confirm booking

The final screen shows passengers reviewing the full itinerary before confirming the ride, similar to booking a standard Uber trip today.

According to details shared with the announcement, the all-electric aircraft used for the service is designed to carry up to four passengers and will be flown by a certified commercial pilot. The aircraft takes off vertically using six tilting propellers before transitioning into forward flight, allowing it to operate within city environments.

It can travel at speeds of up to 200 miles per hour with a range of up to 100 miles on a single charge. Dubai is among the cities where the service is expected to begin carrying passengers later this year.
