Ukraine's Air Force: Russia Likely Launched Ballistic Missiles At Lviv Region From Kapustin Yar
“Launches from Kapustin Yar are likely. Preliminary reports indicate explosions in the Lviv region. The information is being clarified,” he said.
The Air Force reported at 00:43 that“on 08 January 2026 at around 23:30, a missile threat was declared across the entire territory of Ukraine due to the threat of the enemy's use of ballistic missiles from the Kapustin Yar test range. Explosions were recorded in the Lviv region. Information is being clarified.”
The ballistic missile used by the enemy to attack Lviv was traveling at a speed of 13,000 kilometers per hour.
This was reported by the Western Air Command of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
“On January 8 at 23:47, the enemy carried out a missile strike on infrastructure facilities in Lviv, using a ballistic missile. The aerial target was moving at a speed of approximately 13,000 kilometers per hour along a ballistic trajectory,” the Air Command West of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on Facebook.
It is noted that the type of missile used in the strike on the city will be determined after all of its components are examined.
