Dh100,000 Fine, Jail Time For Spreading False Information, Rumours, RAK Police Warn

The Ras Al Khaimah Police have issued a warning and reminder for residents about the penalty associated with spreading rumours or false information online.

The authority said that the penalty of Dh100,000 and jail time of a year or more applies to anyone who uses technology to broadcast or reshare misleading or untrue reports, rumours or information that contradicts official announcements.

Also prohibited is provocative propaganda that may incite public opinion disturb public security, spread terror among people, or cause harm to the public interest, the national economy, public order or public health.
