Poland Gets Upset Over Exclusion from Ukraine Peace Talks

(MENAFN) Polish politicians have expressed frustration after Warsaw was left out of recent discussions in London regarding a potential peace deal for Ukraine, a media outlet reported on Thursday.
Leaders from Britain, France, Germany, and Ukraine convened last week to align their stances as the United States promotes a peace initiative, yet Poland was again excluded.

The news outlet noted that this London omission marks the second time in two months that Poland has been sidelined, following its absence from a significant Geneva peace conference last month.

Being left out of these discussions represents a diplomatic setback for one of Ukraine’s primary European supporters, according to the media outlet.

Opposition figures allied with President Karol Nawrocki quickly placed responsibility on Prime Minister Donald Tusk, criticizing his inability to secure an invitation.

“Poland’s absence in London is yet another example of Donald Tusk’s incompetence,” stated Marek Pek, a senator from the former ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party.

He further described Tusk as “a second-tier politician in Europe.”

Government spokesperson Adam Szlapka dismissed allegations that Poland was being ignored.

Speaking to the outlet, he explained that the formats for such meetings “change constantly” and emphasized that “Poland does not have to be present at every one.”

Earlier, Tusk suggested that Warsaw’s omission might reflect external pressure. He remarked that not everyone in Washington or Moscow wanted Poland “to be present everywhere,” adding that he regarded this “as a compliment,” according to the report.
