Orban Highlights Hungary-Türkiye Cooperation
(MENAFN) Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on Monday emphasized the collaborative efforts with Türkiye aimed at fostering peace in Ukraine and ending the ongoing conflict.
“The Turks have been involved in all attempts at reconciliation and, together with the Hungarians, they know that they can only lose in the war, so the two countries often work together to promote peace,” Orban told reporters while traveling to Istanbul, according to a media outlet.
Orban reiterated that high-level meetings between the two nations are held annually, highlighting that the current discussions focus on four major areas: economy and trade, migration, the war, and energy.
Referring to Türkiye as a "regional power," he explained that these gatherings provide an opportunity to evaluate developments in Europe and Eurasia alongside President Recep Tayyip Erdogan “as friends.”
He also pointed out that regular engagements have significantly boosted bilateral trade, increasing it from €2–2.5 billion ($2.33–2.91 billion) to €4.5–5 billion ($5.24–5.83 billion).
Turkish investments in Hungary have grown, and Hungarian commercial presence in Türkiye has likewise expanded.
Orban further observed that over the past four years, Türkiye has been the only nation to finalize several pivotal agreements, including the shipment of Ukrainian grain to Africa.
