Amman, Dec. 4 (Petra) -- The General Secretariat of the Arab League has selected Jordanian engineer Awni Al-Klub, President of the Arab Agriculture Forum, to join the Arab team responsible for advancing the implementation of the Arab Food Security Strategy, one of the key outcomes of the 5th Arab Economic and Social Development Summit held in Baghdad last May.
In a statement issued Thursday, the Forum said the Arab League convened the team's first meeting this week at its Cairo headquarters. Representatives from several Arab countries and organizations involved in joint Arab action took part, reflecting growing regional momentum to strengthen cooperation on food security.
The meeting focused on tracking progress in applying the strategy's priorities, reviewing the challenges currently facing the Arab food security system, and discussing ways to enhance coordination among Arab countries and relevant regional organizations.
Officials emphasized that improving collaboration is central to enabling Arab states to strengthen their resilience and achieve sustainable food security.
Participants emphasized the importance of ongoing knowledge exchange and the development of practical, collaborative programs that can support food security efforts at both national and regional levels.
The team also agreed to hold regular follow-up meetings to monitor progress, align efforts among stakeholders, and support the successful implementation of the Arab Food Security Strategy.
