Mehnaz Rafi is a PhD candidate and sessional professor at the Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary. Before pursuing her PhD in Organizational Behavior, she received her MSc in management from the Smith School of Business at Queen's University. She is passionate about leveraging her decade of research experience in quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-method designs to create meaningful impact in the world. As part of her knowledge mobilization efforts, she has provided consultations to organizations in the private sector, not-for-profits, government, and police services. She has also worked across multiple universities in roles spanning scholarship, teaching, advising, appeal boards, and institution-wide research ethics and compliance.

Her research focuses on understanding how organizations can navigate technological, social, and ethical challenges to foster more equitable and responsible decision-making. Her first stream of research examines the ethical implementation of AI in the workplace through an employee-centric perspective, focusing on uncertainty. Her second line of research addresses organizational injustice and seeks to improve workplace equity for minority and vulnerable employees through DEI initiatives, unionization efforts, and leadership. Finally, her third line of research explores how organizations can better fulfill their corporate social responsibilities. Within this work, she advocates for a stakeholder-sensitive approach to organizational CSR efforts. Together, her research contributes to promoting ethical, inclusive, and sustainable decision-making in organizations. She has presented her research nationally and internationally at over 30 large-scale conferences such as the Academy of Management (AOM), the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP), and the American Psychological Association (APA).

Rafi likes her work to be evidence-based, meaningful and accessible. As such, she likes to disseminate and communicate the findings from her research to the general public through open-source platforms such as The Conversation.
