New York, Nov. 25 (Petra) – UN General Assembly President Annalena Baerbock said on Tuesday that the Palestinians' right to self-determination "is not a privilege to be earned, but a right that must be upheld," stressing that there is no alternative to realizing this right for the Palestinian people.
Marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, Baerbock said, "After 78 years, Palestine has not yet been admitted to the United Nations as a full member. For 78 years, the Palestinian people have been denied their inalienable rights, especially their right to self-determination."
This year's commemoration coincides with the 78th anniversary of General Assembly Resolution 181, known as the Partition Plan.
The event was organized by the UN Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, chaired by Ambassador Collie Seck, Senegal's Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
