Türkiye's Unemployment Holds Steady in Q3


(MENAFN) Türkiye's joblessness rate remained stable in the third quarter of the year, recorded at 8.5%, according to the nation’s statistical authority TurkStat on Tuesday.

The total number of unemployed individuals aged 15 and older fell by 26,000, reaching 3.01 million.

Unemployment was reported at 7% among men and 11.2% among women during the same period.

At the same time, employment figures rose between July and September, with an additional 65,000 people joining the workforce, bringing the total employed population to 32.56 million.

The overall employment ratio increased to 49%, with men accounting for 66.2% and women 32.1% of the workforce.

The labor force also expanded by 39,000, totaling 35.57 million, while the participation rate reached 53.5%.

Youth unemployment, encompassing those aged 15 to 24, declined by 0.5 percentage points to 15.3% in Q3 compared with the previous quarter. Among this group, it was 11.7% for men and 21.8% for women.

Examining sector-specific employment, the number of workers in agriculture grew by 13,000, in construction by 40,000, and in services by 159,000. Conversely, employment in the industrial sector dropped by 147,000.
