Court Arrests Chernyshov, Bail Set At Over UAH 51M

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) That is according to investigating judge Viktor Nohachevskyi, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The court ruled to partially grant the motion, apply pre-trial detention to Oleksiy Chernyshov for 60 days from the date of his actual arrest, i.e., until January 16, 2026, inclusive, and set bail for the suspect at UAH 51.6 million," the judge said.

If bail is posted, Chernyshov will be considered under a pre-trial measure of bail.

If bail is posted, the former deputy prime minister will be required not to leave the Kyiv region without the permission of detectives from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), prosecutors from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO), the investigating judge, or the court, depending on the stage of the proceedings.

Chernyshov will also have to refrain from contacting certain individuals, including co-owner of Kvartal 95 Studio Tymur Mindich, businessman Oleksandr Tsukerman, and participants in the energy sector corruption case Lesia Ustymenko and Ihor Fursenko, among others.

He will have to submit his documents that allow travel abroad to Ukraine's State Migration Service and wear an electronic monitoring device.

The obligations imposed on the suspect in the event of bail will be valid for two months from the moment of his release following bail payment.

The court denied motions from several individuals to act as guarantors for Chernyshov.

An appeal against the investigating judge's ruling may be submitted to the HACC's Appeals Chamber within five days from the date of its announcement.

In June 2025, SAPO announced the exposure of a large-scale corruption scheme in the construction sector, involving, among others, former high-ranking officials of the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine.

Later, a suspicion notice was approved for former Minister of Communities and Territories Development and Deputy Prime Minister for National Unity Oleksiy Chernyshov. He is accused of abuse of office and receiving illicit benefits for himself and third parties.

Previously, HACC had set Chernyshov's bail at UAH 120 million, along with corresponding procedural obligations, and the full amount was paid.

In August, HACC extended Chernyshov's procedural obligations for two more months.

On November 10, NABU announced a special operation exposing corruption in the energy sector. The investigation revealed that members of a criminal organization built a large-scale scheme to influence strategic state-owned enterprises, including Energoatom.

A law enforcement source familiar with the matter reported that NABU conducted searches at the premises of businessman and Kvartal 95 co-owner Tymur Mindich, as well as at Justice Minister German Galushchenko, who previously served as minister of energy.

The Ministry of Justice later confirmed that investigative actions were carried out involving Galushchenko as part of a criminal proceeding.

During Operation Mida, anti-corruption authorities identified the head of the criminal organization, nicknamed "Karlson."

NABU reported that five of the seven suspects had been detained. Among them are a businessman considered by investigators as the leader of the organization, a former adviser to the minister of energy, and the executive director for physical protection and security at Energoatom.

NABU has charged the former vice prime minister with illicit enrichment. In NABU recordings, he appears under the nickname "Che Guevara."
