Pakistani PM Reaffirms Commitment To Deepen Coop. With Turkiye


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISLAMABAD, Nov 6 (KUNA) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed commitment to deepen cooperation with Turkiye in diverse fields during his meeting with Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, on Thursday.
According to a press release by the Premier's Office, Sharif welcomed the Turkish Minister and his delegation and said that the visit highlighted the strong fraternal ties between Pakistan and Turkiye. The Premier reaffirmed Pakistan's resolute commitment to further deepen bilateral cooperation in the fields of security, counterterrorism, counter-narcotics, police training, disaster management, trade, and economic development.
The Prime Minister, according to the release, praised Turkiye's strong and unwavering support for Pakistan's stance on key issues, appreciating the Turkish leading role in facilitating the ongoing peace talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan in Istanbul.
Earlier, Pakistan and Turkiye have agreed to establish a Joint Working Group to further strengthen cooperation between the interior ministries of both countries. The understanding was reached at a meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his Turkish counterpart Yerlikaya, followed by delegation-level talks, in Islamabad. During the discussions, both sides held detailed consultations on counterterrorism, counter-narcotics, human trafficking, border security, cybercrime, coast guard operations, and police cooperation.
