(MENAFN- UkrinForm) According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine posted an update as of 16:00 on Thursday, November 6, on Facebook.

Defenders are taking measures to prevent Russian troops from advancing deeper into Ukrainian territory.

Russian artillery struck border settlements today, including Bobylivka, Novovasylivka, Hirky, Brusky, and Zarutske in the Sumy region, as well as Serhiivske and Yasna Poliana in the Chernihiv region.

Eight combat clashes have occurred in the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors since the beginning of the day, four of which are still ongoing. The enemy has used aviation four times to strike this section of the front, dropping a total of ten guided bombs, and has also carried out 99 shellings, including 13 from multiple launch rocket systems.

In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, defenders repelled four Russian attacks, with another battle still ongoing. The invaders are trying to advance in the Vovchansk area and toward Dvorichanske.

In the Kupiansk sector, the Russian army attacked Ukrainian positions ten times toward Petropavlivka, Pishchane, and Hlushkivka. Three clashes are currently ongoing.

In the Lyman sector, Russian troops attacked the positions of the Defense Forces six times near Novoyehorivka, Hrekivka, Zarichne, and Novoselivka, toward Korovii Yar. Four combat engagements are ongoing.

In the Sloviansk sector, defenders repelled eight enemy attacks. The Russians tried to advance near Yampil, Dronivka, Siversk, Serebrianka, and Fedorivka. Three more clashes are ongoing.

In the Kramatorsk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled two enemy attacks near Novomarkove and Viroliubivka.

In the Kostiantynivka sector, the Russian army carried out nine assaults in the areas of Oleksandro-Shultyne, Shcherbynivka, and Rusyn Yar, toward Sofiivka. Three combat engagements are still ongoing.

In the Pokrovsk sector, the invaders made 32 attempts to dislodge the Defense Forces from their positions in the areas of Chervonyi Lyman, Myrnohrad, Nykanorivka, Rodynske, Dorozhnie, Novopavlivka, Novoekonomichne, Lysivka, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, and Filiia.

The defenders are holding back the enemy's advance: 26 attacks have already been repelled. Six combat engagements are still ongoing.

“Our soldiers continue to conduct strike and search operations in the Pokrovsk area. The enemy is suffering losses,” the General Staff said.

In the Oleksandohrad sector, the Russian army is trying to break through the defense lines in the areas of Sichneve, Verbove, and Pershotravneve. Three enemy assaults have already been repelled, and one attack is ongoing.

In the Huliaipole sector, four combat clashes have been recorded in the Novomykolaivka area and toward Nove. The Defense Forces repelled all enemy attacks.

The Russians have not yet carried out any offensive operations in the Orikhiv sector today.

In the Prydinprovske sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled an enemy attack carried out toward the Antonivskyi Bridge.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Defense Forces managed to drive Russian troops out of the northern part of the city of Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region.
