Poland's Leader Doubles Down on Rejection of EU Migration Policy
(MENAFN) Polish President Karol Nawrocki doubled down on his nation's rejection of the European Union's migration framework during a Wednesday visit to Slovakia, according to a statement from the President's Office.
Speaking alongside Slovak President Peter Pellegrini at a joint media briefing, Nawrocki highlighted unified resistance between the two nations on unauthorized immigration matters.
"Neither I nor President Pellegrini will agree to Brussels deciding on the migration process in our countries, which poses a threat to our security. I am glad that we are on the same page on this issue," Nawrocki said.
The EU officially adopted the Pact on Migration and Asylum last May, implementing sweeping changes to the bloc's migration and asylum architecture. Despite backing from most EU member nations, the agreement has encountered fierce pushback from multiple Central and Eastern European governments, with Poland and Slovakia among the most vocal opponents.
