Amman, Oct. 7 (Petra) -- Jordan's logistics sector is showing strong momentum in 2025, with new figures from the Jordan Logistics Association (JLA) revealing a notable rise in container traffic through Aqaba Port.
Inbound containers carrying goods into the Kingdom surged by 19.1% during the first nine months of the year compared to the same period in 2024. From January to the end of September 2025, Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT) handled 370,608 incoming containers, up from 313,808 the year before.
Exports also showed moderate growth, with outbound containers rising by 5.7% over the same period, 83,127 containers were shipped out of the Kingdom, compared to 78,665 in 2024.
September alone underscored the trend, with incoming containers increasing by 19.4% year-on-year to reach 45,649. Outbound containers in the same month, however, dipped slightly by 1.8%, recording 9,701 compared to 9,878 in September 2024.
Nabil Khatib, President of the JLA, noted that September marked continued robust activity at Aqaba Port, particularly in terms of imports. He highlighted the port's strategic role as a regional trade hub, backed by solid infrastructure and efficient logistics systems that support smooth flow of goods in and out of Jordan.
Khatib added that this growth in maritime activity is expected to positively impact various sectors of the economy, especially transport, which remains a key pillar of national economic performance.
Established in 2007, the Jordan Logistics Association represents freight forwarders and logistics service providers, aiming to foster a competitive business environment and advocate for industry development. The association is also a member of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA), a global organization founded in 1926.
