Protests Sweep Europe After Israeli Attack on Gaza Flotilla

(MENAFN) Pro-Palestinian activists erupted in demonstrations across Europe on Wednesday in response to Israeli forces’ assault on the Global Sumud Flotilla.

In Rome, hundreds of protesters—including students and grassroots union members—converged at Piazza dei Cinquecento, near Termini Station. Demonstrators blocked traffic around the square, chanting, “Let’s block everything for the Flotilla and for Palestine.” Authorities responded by closing multiple metro stations and restricting access to Termini Station. The march was set to continue toward Piazza Barberini with approximately a thousand participants.

Italy’s major trade unions, Unione Sindacale di Base (USB) and Confederazione Generale Italiana del Lavoro (CGIL), announced a nationwide general strike scheduled for October 3.

In Barcelona, hundreds rallied outside the Israeli consulate to condemn the flotilla interception and show solidarity with Gaza.

Similar protests unfolded in Berlin, where dozens gathered at Central Station, and in Brussels, where marchers moved from Place de la Bourse to the Belgian Foreign Ministry.

A large demonstration is also anticipated in London on Thursday.
