UK PM Denounces Israel’s Airstrike on Qatar

(MENAFN) British Prime Minister Keir Starmer met Israeli President Isaac Herzog at Downing Street on Wednesday, where he sharply denounced Israel’s recent airstrike in Doha, Qatar, calling it "completely unacceptable," according to a Downing Street spokesperson.

Starmer characterized the attack as "a flagrant violation of a key partner's sovereignty" and condemned it for failing to promote the peace "we all desperately want to see."

Addressing the escalating crisis in Gaza, the prime minister expressed grave concern and urged Israel to reconsider its approach. He insisted Israel must permit humanitarian aid access and cease offensive operations to avoid worsening what he described as a "man-made famine."

The two leaders concurred on the urgent need to free hostages taken by Hamas nearly two years ago. Starmer also extended condolences over Monday’s deadly terror attack in Jerusalem.

This week, the European Union, United Nations, and multiple European governments, including the UK, intensified their criticism of Israel’s expanding military actions following Tuesday’s airstrikes on Qatar.
