Russia Sends 2Nd Aid Package For Earthquake Affectees
KABUL (Pajhwok): Russia has sent a second 20-metric tons package of humanitarian aid, including tents and blankets for earthquake victims in eastern Afghanistan, a media report said on Monday.
According to Tass News Agency, the Russian Emergencies Ministry posted on its Telegram channel, saying the aid was sent in accordance with Russian President Vladimir Putin's order and upon instructions from the Russia government.
“An Il-76 flight carrying more than 20 metric tons of tents and blankets for the population affected by a devastating earthquake departed from Zhukovsky Airport”: the news agency added.
Three days ago, the first shipment of 20 tons of Russian humanitarian aid was sent to Afghanistan.
The earthquake on last Sunday night struck Kunar, Nangarhar, Laghman, Panjshir, and Nuristan provinces, causing widespread damage in Kunar. According to official statistics, the death toll in Kunar has reached 2,205 people with 3,640 othes injured.
