Xi, Putin Vow Closer Ties
(MENAFN) Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the “comprehensive strategic partnership” between their nations during discussions held in Beijing on Tuesday.
As reported by the Kremlin, the two leaders emphasized what they called a historic degree of mutual political confidence and collaboration.
During their meeting at the Great Hall of the People, Xi referred to Putin as a “long-time friend,” and praised the resilience of Sino-Russian relations, stating they had “stood the test of international circumstances.”
He noted that the partnership had evolved into a model for state-to-state relations.
Xi further emphasized the shared responsibility of China and Russia to safeguard the legacy of World War II and to jointly work toward building a “more just and rational global governance system.”
He also expressed China's readiness to deepen top-level dialogue with Russia, offer mutual support for each other’s national development and rejuvenation, align on key strategic concerns, and push for broader advancement in bilateral relations.
These remarks were cited by a Chinese official news agency.
Putin echoed the sentiment, describing Russian-Chinese ties as being at an “unprecedentedly high level.”
He highlighted the wartime solidarity between the two countries as the cornerstone of their current alliance.
“We were together then, we remain together now,” Putin declared, conveying his gratitude for Xi’s invitation and expressing optimism about the outcomes of their discussions.
